In 1973, Lagu Gubahanku rose to popularity in the pop charts, by singer Deddy Damhudi. More than two decades later the Classical Guitar Society (WP/Sel) Malaysia, selected Lagu Gubahanku as the theme for a commission. Duarte’s setting of Gubahanku, written in 1996, is as virtuosic as it is lyrical and is a companion work to his Getaran Jiwa (DO1480).
Gubahanku (Mon poème) est une chanson indonésienne populaire écrite par Gatot Soenjoto, qui était considéré comme un auteur-compositeur et parolier aux multiples talents. En 1973, Lagu Gubahanku est devenue populaire dans les charts pop, grâce au chanteur Deddy Damhudi. Plus de deux décennies plus tard, la Classical Guitar Society (WP/Sel) Malaysia a choisi Lagu Gubahanku comme thème d'une commande. La mise en musique de Gubahanku par Duarte, écrite en 1996, est aussi virtuose que lyrique et constitue une œuvre complémentaire à son Getaran Jiwa (DO1480).
