Mass in honor of St. Cyril of Jerusalem was undertaken with the purpose of utilizing a string orchestra with the soulful, plaintive sound of a solo French Horn. Both the Tenor and Bass/Baritone soli are dramatic in nature and should be executed with a fullness of sound, even in the less forte sections. The French Horn needs to ring out as a solo throughout, much like the solo instruments in Masses from the Baroque and Classical periods.
