Missa Brevis was written to accommodate the celebration of the Mass, hence the relatively short performance times of the Ordinary portions of the Mass contained in this composition. Much of the piece has an introspective aspect that should be observed whenever called for. The accented syllables in the Latin text underlay are in bold type.
