The work is titled Visions de l’Apocalypse (Visions of the Apocalypse), the french title serving as an oblique reference to Messiaen’s Visions de l’Amen.
The work was inspired by several of the paintings of Polish artist, Zdzisław Beksiński, who stated that he “wish[ed] to paint in such a manner as if I were photographing dreams”.
