A Princess’s Tale is based on one of the best-known of all fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers with the original German title Schneewittchen. According to the mythologies the story actually took place in Spessart. It is even allegedly possible to identify specific reference points within the plot to Lohr and its environs. Thomas Doss has taken this opportunity to link this story to the area, and has even incorporated the motif from the famous “Spessart Song” into each of the four movements Once Upon a Time…, The Dwarfs, The Glass Coffin and The Princess’s Release and Wedding.

A Princess’s Tale is gebaseerd op een van de bekendste sprookjes aller tijden, geschreven door de gebroeders Grimm, onder de oorspronkelijke Duitse titel Schneewittchen. Volgens plaatselijke legenden heeft het verhaal ooit plaatsgevonden in de streek Spessart, en zouden er in de plot verwijzingen naar Lohr en omgeving te bespeuren zijn. Thomas Doss heeft in elk geval de gelegenheid te baat genomen om het verhaal aan deze streek te koppelen. Hij heeft zelfs het motief uit het beroemde ‘Spessartlied’ in de vier delen verwerkt: Once Upon a Time…, The Dwarfs, The Glass Coffin en The Princess’s Release and Wedding.

A Princess’s Tale greift die Geschichte eines der bekanntesten Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm auf, das in der Sammlung Grimms Märchen unter dem deutschen Originaltitel "Schneewittchen“ zu finden ist. Laut Überlieferung soll sich die Geschichte im Spessart zugetragen haben, und angeblich finden sich in der Handlung sogar bestimmte Hinweise zu Lohr am Main und Umgebung. Thomas Doss hat diesen Umstand genutzt, um die Geschichte mit dieser Gegend zu verbinden und hat sogar das Motiv des berühmten "Spessart-Liedes“ in allen vier Sätzen verwendet: Once Upon a Time…, The Dwarfs, The Glass Coffin und The Princess’s Release and Wedding.

A Princess’s Tale (un Conte de Princesse) est basé sur l’un des contes les plus connus des frères Grimm, publié sous le titre original allemand Schneewittchen (Blanche-Neige). D’après la mythologie, l’histoire s’est vraiment passée Spessart. Il est même apparemment possible d’associer des points de référence spécifiques dans l’histoire Lohr et ses alentours. Thomas Doss a saisi l’occasion de lier l’histoire la région, et a même incorporé le motif de la célèbre « Chanson de Spessart » dans chacun des quatre mouvements : Once Upon a Time…, The Dwarfs, The Glass Coffin et The Princess’s Release and Wedding.
