Composed by John Williams. Arranged by Mikhail Rimsky-Korsakov (AKA Hans Nel). Movies. Score,Set of Parts. 233 pages. Published by Serabeckano Studio (S0.227827).This arrangement of Star Wars Medley was commissioned from me by the South African Navy Band. They performed this music at the "Chief of the Navy Gala Concert" in October 2016. This piece is quite advanced (as one might notice quite a few mistakes when listening to the "Dress Rehearsal" performance by a Professional Military Band) but voiced to sound as close to a Philharmonic Orchestra as possible through the Arranger's extensive knowledge of "painting" with tonal colors and understanding the blending of waveforms produced by different instruments that can, with proper insight by the Conductor, make a Wind Ensemble sound like an Orchestra!. An mp3 is included of the dress rehearsal, but please note that this Military Band is totally unbalanced regarding the size of Instrumental Family Groups. I mention this purely as it is important to have enough Flute, Oboes, Clarinets, and Bassoons that has to compete with the highly advanced Brass Family. This mp3 recording is a good example that demonstrates the unbalanced "power" between the WW and Brass even though both families in THIS Band (being considered the best in Africa) performed exceptionally well considering the difficulty of the music. The SA Navy Band is practically the only band in Africa that can, and have the Bravada, to perform my arrangments, considered "Impossible" by Concert Bands at our Universities! Here, I enjoy the cathartic pleasure of instructing Lecturers, performing in these ensembles, what the expectation and demands Film Composers place on musicians hired for recording sessions on a Soundstage! If a Film Composer or Conductor hear from a musician "this is not Clarinetist voicing", that musician is replaced by someone that CAN play the notes, and the queue is long! ;-) So, enjoy this work, if you are brave enough! ;-) NOTE: This (and other) arrangement is "custom made" for the SA Navy Band voiced specifically for their instrumentation.
