I saw Clare perform with the NEC Symphony Orchestra a couple of years ago in Jordan Hall. She played principle cello and had several solo features in the program. I was so impressed with her performance that I hired her to participate in several recordings of my music. She played cello in my string quartet, "Sodium," my "Octet in D," and my song cycle "Alice."
She is now a senior at NEC, and I decided that as a parting gift I would write a cello duet for her. The end result is "Concerto Barocco" for cello and piano.
Concerto Barocco like the Bach dance suites is in six sections.
1. Allemande … Moderato
2. Courante … Moderato
3. Sarabande … Adagio
4. Gavotte … Moderato
5. Air … Adagio
6. Gigue … Allegro
