A contemporary twist on a revered traditional English classic, "Scarborough Fair". Different from many other arrangements, this version features a driving syncopated groove and various instruments featured melodically, including alto sax, the trumpet section, and even the electric bass guitar. Powerful horn riffs accent the spaces between the phrases of the melody. There is also a 16-bar solo break in the middle which can feature any soloist, and a brief 8-bar drum solo section leads back into the main melody as a DS al coda. Only a mildly-challenging arrangement, this tune will be effective in any jazz ensemble program as it is likely to stand out, and unlikely to sound like anything else on the program. A catchy, energetic ear-catcher in E-flat minor that is bound to please both listeners and the musicians themselves. (roughly 3:15 in length).
