Piano Duet - Advanced - Digital Download

SKU: S0.181929

Composed by George F. Handel, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Arranged by Renee Hyche McKee. Contemporary Classical,Contemporary Christian,Christmas,Pop,Recital. Score. 13 pages. Published by Renee Hyche McKee (S0.181929).

A mashup of two favorite Christmas carols that captures the joy of the season! Fragments of "Joy to the World! The Lord is Come!" and "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" are used as an intro, then each tune takes its own full turn to shine. The two themes are entwined in the final section.

The pacing is upbeat and toe-tapping, and the rhythmic patterns are fun to play. My husband and I have played this duet for Christmas concerts as well as prelude for Christmas Services at church, and the joyful mood it set each time brought smiles to all.

Some fingerings have been added to help facilitate a few twists. The rhythmic patterns are a challenge to read at first, but they fall under the fingers easily with a little practice. A key change to F Major brings the middle section into a smoother feel. The rhythmic element then returns to finish with a fun, rhythmic wrap-up.

This piece is suitable for student holiday recitals, seasonal church preludes, postludes or offertories as well as secular seasonal celebrations.
