This is no ordinary Christmas album. This live recording was made at a Christmas concert presented by the California State University, Northridge Wind Ensemble at one of California's state prisons. The album is an eclectic mix of beautifully arranged Christmas music, including favorites such as "Go Tell It On The Mountain," and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Throughout the concert, the responses of the prisoners can be heard. Listening carefully, you will hear not only the sounds of security doors and intercom announcements, but spontaneous shoults of "Hallelujah!" and as the concert progresses, a full-blown singalong. The CSUN Wind Ensemble has long been known for their excellence in performances as well as recordings. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Stoffel, who also conducts the university's Wind Symphony and teaches courses in conducting and music education.
