- playing in D major key
- right hand mobility around the keyboard
- increasing confidence with left hand, ideal for pupils making a transition from keyboard to piano
- developing use of sustain pedal and a singing right hand over a gentler left hand
- playing block chords and semiquavers evenly
- understanding the relationship between block chords and broken chords
- keeping a steady pace when playing repeated notes
