Friedrich Gulda recorded Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier in the yeras of 1972-1973. This was the high-and endpoint of the collaboarton between Gulda and the German "sound-sorcerer" Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer. A Steinway Grand Imperial was brought into the MPS studio specifically for Gulda's use and were placed to his exact specifications so the piano's sonority could be optimally captured. Bach composed this cycle of works that play through all twnety-four major and minor keys in 1722. The LP edition is on 180 gram Virgin Vinyl, produced from the origainl master tapes with no correction of sound dynamics. It also includes the original LP booklets and a new booklet with scans of the tape boxes and reissue text. This new release appears on the anniversary of the painist's 85th birthday.
