By Caravello and Versavaud. By Darius Milhaud, Delvincourt, Gabriel Faure, Koechlin, Maurice, and Vittorio Monti. Classical. 1 listening CD. Published by Naxos (NX.DSK4158).

This recital for saxophone and piano includes 20th c. French music works of different styles, from Croquembouches, the 'gastronomic' suite by Claude Delvincourt and the 'truer than true' Provencal folkloric cycle by Paule Maurice, to the very classical pieces by Faure and Charles Koechlin. The famous Scaramouche by Darius Milhaud introduces listeners to Brazilian influences, the Czardas by Vittorio Monti evoking the musical inflections of Central Europe. Excepting the transcribed Faure pieces, the others were originally written for saxophone, or arranged by the composers themselves.
