Published by John Grady (S0.71439).Submitted for the 2015 Areon Flutes International Chamber Music Composition Contest."Solstice Moon" can be played by a flute quartet as well as a large 4-part flute ensemble. This 3 to 4 minute piece allows each performer to shine. The top parts are more technically challenging than the lower two parts, although all parts share in the material and are equal throughout. Solstice Moon is an energetic evocation of Summer with all the richness and growth the season implies. Played by itself, or with its two companion pieces to be written, it is an interesting and beautiful piece for any program.
