Composed by Philip Nicolai, J. S. Bach. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Baroque,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Curtis Hanson #2920507. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719682).

This is an arrangement of Bach's setting of Philip Nicolai's "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" as set in Cantata 140. In Bach's setting, the melody is sung by unison tenors. Here it is set for optional 1 or 2 part voices in any combination to make it more universal for a variety of choirs, or as a solo or duet. It can be sung as Bach intended (melody only) or with the optional lower octave and minimal harmony for alto and/or bass voices. The accompaniment may be played on either organ or piano. This piece can be sung by either novice or experienced choirs with equal effect. The translation is by the arranger.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
