By James Taylor. By James Taylor. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. A Cappella,Rock. Octavo. 12 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6448585. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955850).

James Taylors refers to his song, You Can Close Your Eyes as a secular hymn, but his girl-friend at the time (Joni Mitchell, 1970/1) called it a grown-up lullaby. Musically it has been defined as the Renaissance-meets-country-folk.  No matter how you define it, its popularity is best demonstrated by its many covers; from Carly Simon and Linda Ronstadt, to Sheryl Crow and Sting. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  It features tight harmonies and an a cappella contrapuntal extended coda.  Performance time: 3:10+

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
