SKU: WA.50727

Composed by Dean Mcneill. Score and parts. Published by Walrus Music Publishing (WA.50727).

This is an exciting, modern 3/4 (broken swing) written in tribute to Kenny Wheeler. The chart explores unusual harmonic progressions and features the ensemble and solo space for guitar and/or piano. A guitar with a somewhat overdriven sound works very well ( i.e. John Scolfield sound concept). Although the score indicates that the chart is to be played very fast, note that the chart will work at somewhat slower tempos. All down beat quarter notes are to be played very legatto unless otherwise marked. Instrumentation: 10 brass, 5 saxes, ( 1 sop, 1 alto, 2 tenor, 1 bari, pno, bass, guitar, drums). (Alternate alto sax part provided for sop sax however soprano is recommended). Lead trumpet written to 'E' with optional written 'G'. The horn choral at both letter 'A' and letter 'O' is to be conducted rubato, completely out of time with respect to the rhythm section who should continue to play at the quarter note = 244 tempo. As a result the horns and the rhythm section will then line up (meaning they will all start playing together again, in time) at measures 14 and 214.
