This is a system to help the arranger find new ways to format and voice his work. You are taught to group into the 4 basic functions--Lead--Harmony--Counter--Mush (background). You will use a timeline and plot the functions on it. The idea is "WHO PLAYS WHAT AND FOR HOW LONG". You are guided along the way. Learning to hear IN YOUR HEAD is constantly stressed. Harmony, orchestration, counterpoint or anything else is taught except how to find many, many voicing possibilities and how to use a structure to put it all together. This is done with no notes--none--it's about logic and using your ideas in the best way to use your ideas to beat advantage- Percussion is added to your completed score. All the charts, graphs and other fill in examples makes order out of all the details so you can concentrate on one thing at a time without losing sight of the structure of the completed work.
