"Under The Sea" is a lively song from Disney's 1989 animated feature "The Little Mermaid" written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. It has elements of Caribbean calypso and reggae music, and was performed on the soundtrack by Samuel E Wright. It won the Oscar for Best Song in 1989, the first for a Disney film since "Chim Chim Cher-ee" in 1964. The character Sebastian tries to persuade Ariel (the little mermaid) to stay under the sea and to not go to the surface. The words need to be crisp and neatly articulated, so practise slowly and gradually increase the speed. The rhythms also need to be tight and placed accurately with the accompaniment and all the voices. This arrangement is for SATB with piano accompaniment, and includes both a full score and SATB-only score.
