The "Triptych" for piano (1953) shows a variety of musical ideas through its expressionistic character. The strong beginning of the first movement "Allegro" places the listener in the middle of a dramatic event with syncopated chords, which, after a quiet dolce middle section, leads to an energetic end. The melancholic 2nd movement "Allegro assai" is repeatedly colored by moving 32nd notes and ends thoughtfully in pianissimo. After that, the 3rd movement "Vivo" brings a breath of fresh air to the composition with a 16th note movement. (from the foreword by Christos Marantos).
