About the work:
Supposedly composed from scratch by the mayor of Tölz, Anton Krettner, in just eight days, The Tölzer Schützenmarsch (Tölz Rifle March) was first performed in 1883 at a celebration for the town’s shooting fraternity.
The march was very successful during the composer’s lifetime, and is still to this day widely performed at celebrations and events across Germany.
