Outside Brazil, the song reached its peak popularity in the 1940s, with successful recordings by Ethel Smith, The Andrews Sisters, Carmen Miranda and others. Other recordings have been made by: Charlie Parker, Berliner Philarmoniker, Henry Mancini, Paquito D'Rivera, Perez Prado and more recently Lou Bega.
