Three Inventions by Elizabeth Alexander Piano Duet - Sheet Music
Piano Duet, 2 Pianos - Advanced

SKU: SF.SEA-045-00

Composed by Elizabeth Alexander. Instrumental, Piano. Three imaginative "inventions" — mechanical, optical and subatomic! Classical, 20th Century, Character Pieces, Science. Score. Duration 10 minutes. Seafarer Press #SEA-045-00. Published by Seafarer Press (SF.SEA-045-00).

8.5 x 11 inches.

Each "invention" in this colorful 10-minute work reflects a physical or mechanical action. "Synchrotron (Gear-Shifter)" features two different musical "gears," a smaller one in Piano I and a larger one in Piano II. "Prism (Light-Splitter)" emulates a prism, but instead of dividing the light spectrum into six colors, the twelve pitches of the chromatic scale are divided between the two pianos. "Synchrotron, or Superconducting-Supercollider (Atom Smasher)" contains two aspects of its mechanical namesake: movement outward from a central point, and (what else?) some vigorous atom smashing. This showpiece for two pianos calls for a strong sense of rhythm and a playful sense of ensemble between the pianists.
