Composed by Truhn. Arranged by Paul Taylor. Children,Folk,Traditional. Octavo. 9 pages. Paul Taylor #6320275. Published by Paul Taylor (A0.803354).This is a folk tune from the 1800's referred to as a "play-party-song." It was sung at social gatherings where improvisation and group participation was encouraged and expected. My great Aunt taught me this the way that you find it here--she had no idea that it was actually composed by anybody since she'd learned it from her mother and assumed her mother made it up. While teaching an American Folk Music Class I came across a tune called "The Three Chafers" whose text and music was similar, but hardly recognizable. Written in the baritone range for the most part (E3-E4).
