Composed by Samuel Rutherford. Arranged by Clifton Davis ASCAP. 20th Century,Concert,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 9 pages. Clifton Allen Davis Music, ASCAP #5970661. Published by Clifton Allen Davis Music, ASCAP (A0.927293).A 4 minute setting for Bb Clarinet and piano, using the hymn tune by Samuel Rutherford associated with the text "The Sands of Time" by Anne Ross Cousins. This hymn is the first place I consciously remember hearing a minor 4 chord in a major key! Inspired by this "borrowed" chord, I have added many others and included some whole tone scales for good measure to capture the otherworldly connotations of this text. An enjoyable selection for study and for performance in a recital or religious occasion.
An MP3 recording of the piano accompaniment is available for purchase: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/21823215
