The Rose is a classic song written by singer, songwriter, and actress Amanda McBroom. It was featured in 1979 film The Rose, although it was not written specifically for the film. McBroom wrote the song in 45 minutes, at the suggestion of her manager who urged her to write "some Bob Seger-type tunes."

The Rose was a top-ten hit in the US, Canada, and Australia. It won a Golden Globe award in 1979. That same year, Bette Midler won a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her recording of The Rose. In 2004, the song was listed in the American Film Institute’s Top 100 Songs in American Cinema.
