It begins with the drum only, slowly adds LH piano then both hands for Verse 1; then both piano and drum adds some more texture for Verse 2, then it slowly unwinds and ends with only the drum.
This arrangement was written for a specific duo; a beginning first year middle school drummer and a slightly arthritis pianist. Thus the drumming is very basic and steady patterns with long stretches before a slight pattern change (there are 5 different patterns). And thus the piano part has a LH of mostly broken arpeggios so it can be played by rolling the wrist instead of using finger strength, and the RH is all simple detached chords so the arm can go up and down, and it rarely expands beyond a 6th, again, taking the pressure and movement off of the fingers.
Nevertheless, this is still a piece full of character and great for a featured solo this season!
