The Hajar Mountains are the highest mountain range in the Eastern Arabian peninsula. They are a predominant feature of the landscape on Oman and Muscat and are roughly 50-100 km inland from the Gulf of Oman. The literal translation from Arabic into English means 'The Rock' or The Stone'.
