Gabriel was a singer, composer, and teacher from Iowa. He lived in the 19th and 20th Centuries. Zundel was a German organist and composer in the 19th Century. This hymn is well suited for Good Friday and Easter events. Sections A and C are the verse. Sections B and D are the chorus. A modulation to a new key occurs right before section C with the help of a German augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is then added as the new key section are to be played with more majesty.
