As a teenager, learning the piano, I really loved the Chopin Waltzes and I always wished there where more of them. Although this piece is not intended to be a slavish pastishe of Chopin my aim was to try and compose a little waltz that could be enjoyed in a similar way. The title Table Waltz stems from a thought that as well as being in the tradition of Chopin there is also an element of (French?) cafe music.
