As with the first symphony, the second symphony is not programmatic as such, but also takes its inspiration from the confrontation of man with his role in nature. Dedicated to the 2011 National Garden Show in Upper Austria, this symphony earned its subtitle Symphony in Green and explores musically the connotation of this colour as the colour of nature, of life and of hope.

Thomas Doss gaf zijn tweede symfonie voor harmonieorkest de ondertitel Symphony in Green. Hij ontleende deze naam aan de gelijknamige slogan van de 'Landesgartenschau 2011' in Oberosterreich. Deze compositie is niet programmatisch,maar doorgrondt de betekenis van de kleur groen op muzikale wijze. Groen in de natuur, in het leven als ook in de hoop voor de toekomst...

Wie bei der 1. Sinfonie liegt auch der 2. Sinfonie eine Inspiration zu Grunde, die zwar keine programmatische Handlung hat, aber eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Menschen und seiner Rolle in der Natur anregen will. Gewidmet der Landesgartenschau 2011 in Oberosterreich, erhielt diese Sinfonie den Untertitel Sinfonie in Grün und lotet die Konnotationen dieser Farbe als Farbe der Natur, des Lebens und der Hoffnung musikalisch aus.

Pour Thomas Doss, la couleur verte represente la vie et l'espoir. Dans cette seconde symphonie, Symphonie in Green (Symphonie en vert), plus que dans la premiere, le compositeur s'inspire de reveries philosophiques. Bien qu'il ne s'agisse pas d'une oeuvre a programme, elle se prete bien a l'exploration de l'essence humaine et de nos rapports avec la nature. Une oeuvre aerienne deployant le prodigieux talent de Thomas Doss.
