Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Austin Ralphson. Concert,Jazz. 73 pages. Austin Ralphson #432527. Published by Austin Ralphson (A0.562968).This is an original arrangement of Pachelbel’s Canon by Austin Ralphson for big band. It does not sound much like the baroque original, however, and has been given a modern, big band facelift. This arrangement features catchy melodies, juicy harmonies and has a section near the end which can open out for improvised solos on any instrument. There are also some optional "screamy high" trumpet notes in the final section for those players who can reach them! Saxes, trumpets and trombones all have soli sections in the piece and it is exciting to play for all musicians in the band. Instrumentation is: 2 Alto Saxes, 2 Tenor Saxes, Bari Sax, 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums.
