Tchaikovsky completed the ballet in 1876 (original title: Лебеди́ное о́зеро), and premiered it in 1876 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
Although it was not initially successful, it eventually became one of the most famous ballets ever written!
The most popular theme of the piece appears at the beginning of Act 2 (No. 10, entitled "Scène").
Today, this hauntingly beautiful piece is considered one of Tchaikovsky’s greatest compositions and one of the most well-known classical works of all time.
