Paul Sterne composed this work in Lyon, France as a student.  Dedicated to the journalist and music lover Jean-Paul Chartier, this motet is in a style that is both mystical and impressionistic.  The main theme, which is very melodic, contains both mysterious and more modern passages.  The last part, which is very ethereal, recalls the influences of Duruflé, and the "amens" on the end finish the work in an almost ecstatic atmosphere.
