Published by Tony BC Huang (A0.1599824).Rossini's String Sonata No. 2 has been arranged for a clarinet octet, with the key remaining in its original A major. If performed using a D clarinet, four A clarinets, a D basset clarinet (very rare), two A bass clarinets (also quite rare), the arrangement might be much easier to play.
However, if your clarinet ensemble does not have access to these uncommon instruments, you can still perform this arrangement using standard E♭ clarinets, B♭ clarinets, alto clarinet, and 2 B♭ bass clarinets on the uncommon instrument parts. This simply raises the key by a half step, effectively making it sound in B♭ major instead.
If you're up for a challenge, this arrangement also includes parts transposed for E♭ clarinet, B♭ clarinet, alto clarinet or basset horn (in F), B♭ bass clarinet, and contralto clarinet (or contrabass clarinet), all written in the original key. Using these parts may enhance the overall sound effect and provide greater tonal variety, but it also significantly increases the difficulty of performance.
