Follow the complex and smoking-hot life as a star as it transitions from its birthplace in the nebulae, swirls and contracts into a protostar, sustains nuclear fusion, lives out its glory days on the main sequence, and after a few close-calls with a second main sequence phase, inevitably meets its end as a red giant. Once the red giant star sheds off its outer layers to form a planetary nebula, all that remains is a white dwarf, never to shine as bright as it once did. It's complex, it's full of surprises, it's one of the most fascinating phenomena in space: this is stellar evolution.
