Or for young rakes with veneral disease and an addiction to alcohol. Whatever the case, it has been through many iterations, many names and many supposed composers. Louis Armstrong's 1928 recording put it permanently on the U.S. blues/jazz map.
This rendition is inspired in part by a treatment by Troy Andrews, otherwise, and mostly, known as Trombone Shorty.
