Woodwind Ensemble, Woodwind Trio Clarinet, Flute, Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download
The piece was composed in the fall of 2023 at the request of the ensemble group “Ensemble Spinel” from Hokkaido. It is a suite inspired by the gemstone “spinel,” which is also the origin of the group’s name.
I. Blue
The stone’s symbolic meanings are “aesthetic eye” and “aesthetic sense.” Three performers come together to create a delicate sound.
II. Pink
The stone’s symbolic meanings are “positive” and “self-achievement.” This movement features fast-paced music that is the opposite of the first movement, with elements from the first movement appearing midway.
III. Black
The stone’s symbolic meanings are “bold” and “breakthrough.” This movement contains many cadenza-like solos, and in the latter half, a “song” appears that quotes the harmonic progression from the first movement.
VI. Red
The stone’s symbolic meanings are “vitality,” “victory,” and “passion.” This piece is played attacca from the third movement and features fast-paced music with a Spanish flair, inspired by the stone’s symbolic meanings..
