Published by Ryan Rey (A0.987447).The initial idea for Somewhere (originally just a lead sheet) was inspired by the study of modal jazz harmony in a course taught by Dr. Johannes Wallmann, director of jazz studies at California State University, East Bay (currently Director of Jazz Studies at University of Wisconsin, Madison School of Music). In the case of Somewhere, it’s very subtle. The slow harmonic motion allows for different textures and sonorities to shift in and out of focus throughout the piece. Jazz Orchestra. Jazz Band. Guitar and Tenor solo sections. Electronic effects encouraged for soloists.
