The Solo No. 2 in D, op. 52 was originally published in 1887. The piece is cast in a modified ternary form. The opening section is in D minor and the composer employed a fourth relationshir, for the B section of the work, writing the Andante in G major. In addition, the A begins in G major while the remainder of the movement is set in D major. This fourth relationship is emphasized at the conclusion of the piece when Jancourt substitutes a plagal padence for the more traditional perfect authentic cadence.
