Opus 46. Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Gregor Kovacic. Baton Music orchestral series. Full score. Baton Music #BM1211-SCORE. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM1211-SCORE).The 'Slavonic Dances' are a series of 16 orchestral pieces composed by Antonín Dvor(ák in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Opus 46 and Opus 72 respectively. The 'Slavonic Dance No. 1' is a 'furiant', a rapid and fiery Bohemian dance in alternating 2/4 and 3/4 time, with frequently shifting accents. The stylised form of the dance was often used by Czech composers such as Antonín Dvořák and Smetana. The 'Slavonic Dance No. 1' is one of the most popular of all Slavonic Dances and is among the composer's most memorable works. Slovenian arranger Gregor Kovacic transcribed this 'Slavonic Dance No.1' for Symphonic Band.
