This is the second in a set of seven pieces that each elaborate upon ideas previously left dormant in sketch form. This particular piece is based on a 7-bar ground bass (rising a minor third each time), that features considerable textural variation on each cycle, and culminates in a 3-part canon. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for most standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Other works from the Sketch cycle, as well as the complete set, are also available via Sheet Music Plus. Duration: 3 minutes 30 seconds.
