The original song was first performed by Burl Ives for the 1964 animated movie "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". The melody and its countermelodies are supported by a traditional waltz pattern in the left hand and flourishes into lyrical arpeggiations as the piece progresses. What a lovely piece to perform in the Christmas season!
