Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Geoffrey Peterson. Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 7 pages. Geoffrey Peterson #6064005. Published by Geoffrey Peterson (A0.942967).

French composer Gabriel Fauré wrote Sicilienne in 1893 to be used as incidental music for the play The Bourgeois Gentleman by Molière. But the theatre in Paris who commissioned the work went bankrupt the following year, so Fauré put the music aside. Five years later he arranged it for cello and piano. The siciliana is an instrumental or vocal work in a slow 6/8 or 12/8 meter in a minor key. It is occasionally sorrowful in feeling and was a common pastorale genre used by composers of the Baroque era. This arrangement for viola and piano is perfect for recitals or any occasion.
