From the arranger: This is a simple, exciting, and adaptable arrangement of the popular Hebrew folk song ‘Sevivon’. A sevivon (or ‘dreidl’) is a four-sided spinning top, played during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. This arrangement opens with a chorale, followed by a slow statement of the main theme in the Klezmer style. As the excitement of the game builds, so does the tempo, culminating in a joyful rush of emotion. The roadmap is adaptable; the DS al Fine may be cycled through multiple times should the band director wish to extend the piece or change the pace of the accelerando.
