Harald Genzmer (1909-2007) schrieb in seinen letzten Lebensjahren mehrere geistliche Solokantaten und leistete damit wichtige musikalische Beiträge für die Liturgie und das geistliche Konzert. Die Kantate "Sei nur stille in Gott, meine Seele" hat Genzmer in seinem Autograph ausdrücklich als "Geistliches Konzert" bezeichnet und sich damit in die Tradition von Heinrich Schütz gestellt. Das vierteilige Werk verwendet verschieden Psalmtexte und kann als Gesamtwerk, aber auch in Abschnitten aufgeführt werden. Ausgedehnte Vor- und Zwischenspiele der Orgel setzt er meisterhaft zur Ausdeutung der Texte ein. Verwendet werden die Psalmtexte "Sei nur stille, meine Seele, in Gott" (Psalm 62, 6-9), "Gott, sei mir gnädig" (Psalm 51, 3, 12-13), "Herr, Gott, du bist unsere Zuflucht" (Psalm 90, 1-2,4-6) und "Herr, unser Herrscher" (Psalm 8, 1, 4-5).
