Published by Ng Jun Ling (A0.1014891).Here is a piano composition written for advanced level. My students and teacher said it sounds like playing video games and driving a car. I thought these two activities are the most we do for holiday so I named this composition "School Holiday!"
This piece has four sections. The first and the last are the same. The music open with excitement and it has pedal-point throughout the first section. In the middle, one section features tango bass pattern and another section is written in the style of bossa nova. The key changes are a tone apart: from B-flat major to C major to D major then back to C major again.
Student learn about:
1. pedal-point (a note sustained below changing harmonies)
2. direct modulation (immediately begin the next phrase with a new key)
3. chromatic modulation (change to another key chromatically)
4. tango bass pattern
5. bossa nova
