Composed by P.I. Tchaikovski. Arranged by P.G. Verny. Vocal jazz. Score. Editions a Coeur Joie #A121900801. Published by Editions a Coeur Joie (CJ.A121900801).

Scat-noizet , Compositions, arrangements and lyrics by Pierre-Gerard VERNY, based on Piotr Ilitch TCHAIKOVSKI's ballet-feerie Casse-Noisette :

In the small German town of Nuremberg, President Stahlbaum and his wife organize a Christmas Eve reception. The guests arrive, laden with gifts for the children, which they place at the foot of the tree.
Then the whimsical and disturbing medical advisor Drosselmayer, a colorful character who is also the godfather of the Stahlbaum children, arrives. He also brings gifts, which have a particularity because he makes them himself. They are very strange toys, to which he sometimes manages to make them say a few words: animated dolls, Harlequin and Colombine, a vivandiere and a little wooden soldier, with a big mouth, quite simply...
Clara, the daughter of President Stahlbaum, receives this little man, which is in fact a nutcracker, and which represents a character she prefers to all the other toys. Her brother Fritz, jealous, seizes the nutcracker and ruins it. Clara bursts into tears, then with the help of Drosselmayer cares for it like a real patient, pampers it and puts it to bed at the foot of the tree.
The party ends, the guests retire, but Clara can't get to sleep; all her thoughts go to the unfortunate nutcracker. She gets up quietly and decides to go and have a look in the living room. It is dark, the moon is shining through the window into the large room. She moves cautiously towards the nutcracker. It is then that midnight rings...

16 Compositions, arrangements and lyrics by Pierre-Gerard VERNY for equal voices choir (SA):

This very swinging work, for cycle 3 level, for choir with 2 equal voices (that can be sung with one voice) and jazz quintet, is an adaptation of the famous tale of Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann The Nutcracker, revisited by Alexandre Dumas under the title Histoire d'un casse-noisette. Here, in the arrangements and compositions of Pierre-Gerard Verny, she takes up the musical themes of the eponymous ballet by Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky.
Each picture is illustrated by a song, of which everyone will be able to recognize elements of the themes of the ballet, with original lyrics, which gives, and this for the first time, a jazz choral creation, around this inescapable of the music of the XIXth century.
In order to facilitate the learning of these 16 pieces, mp3 audio files of accompaniment, very simple of use, were realized. They include the files of the separate voices for learning (soprano lead and alto ad lib. counterpoint), a complete realization, as well as the playbacks played by a real jazz quintet, for a great flexibility of use: live performance or broadcast of the recording.<
