The first version is the one popularized by Simon and Garfunkel, the second has a different melody but similar lyrics, and its setting is "yonder town" instead of "Scarborough". The third is a very beautiful Aeolian mode melody collected by Cecil Sharp. Each version is followed by a variation. The pieces can be played separately or as a suite, repeating the first version as the final movement.
