Sandstone Centennial was commissioned by the Frodsham Silver Band from north-west England, to celebrate their centenary. The title refers to the fact that Frodsham is situated at one end of The Sandstone Trail, a hiking route which was opened in 1974 and traces a ridge of sandstone. The march is in traditional English ‘contest march’ style.

Sandstone Centennial werd geschreven in opdracht van de Frodsham Silver Band uit Noord-West Engeland, ter gelegenheid van hun honderdjarige jubileum. De titel verwijst naar het feit dat Frodsham is gelegen aan The Sandstone Trail, een wandelroute die langs de bergkam van zandsteen loopt. De mars is gecomponeerd in de traditionele Engelse ‘contest march’ stijl.

Das Stück Sandstone Centennial wurde von der Frodsham Silver Band“ aus Nordwest-England aus Anlass ihres 100-jährigen Jubiläums in Auftrag gegeben. Der Titel bezieht sich darauf, dass sich Frodsham am Ende des Sandstone Trail“ befindet, eine Wanderroute, die 1974 eröffnet wurde und einem Sandsteingrat folgt. Der Marsch entspricht dem traditionellen englischen Wettbewerbsstil“.

Sandstone Centennial fut commandé par l’orchestre Frodsham Silver Band du nord-ouest de l’Angleterre pour célébrer son centenaire. Le titre fait référence la proximité de Frodsham une extrémité du Sandstone Trail, une randonnée accessible depuis 1974 qui suit une crête gréseuse. La marche est écrite dans le style anglais traditionnel des « marches de concert ».
